Oh man, I know my friends would agree with this. We're pretty po'ed at how many good cartoons are going to waste these days. I guess that's part of the reason we became animators...
But anyhoo, I'm lovin' this. Simple and to the point
So true, and well put. I mean Spongebob Goes Prehistoric got a DVD realease (btw, worst SB episode in my opinion) just a few days after it was on TV, while shows like TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, and like you said Duck Tales are left as a nostalgic blur in the memories of Gereration Y.
I was reluctant to search for Clutch Cargo, but I just recently did... and I'm feeling what Clang is feeling right now... but he'd have to have some profanities in there for kicks.
Actually I believe that Pixar made fun of this within the Incredible's DVD... no movement whatsoever, and the same somewhat infected looking pink lips as well. Hmmm... duck tales... for some reason I decided to hate that show when I was young... maybe it's still on toon disney.
(Pickets Disney with big sign that says "DUCKTALES FOREVER!!" on one side, and "FREE THE CHEAPSKATE" on the other...)
... What... Look, I'm not picketing the cheapo Popeye DVD's, because cheap DVDs mean I can buy more of them(Even though, I must say, it seems like a blind monkey desided which cartoons went on which DVD's resulting in several of the same cartoons being shown on one DVD or two different DVDs.)... I may love Popeye cartoons with a passion, but I'm pretty damn cheap, dontchaknow...
Reading the comments, I seem to be lucky not to know that clutch cargo series, but I'm afraid history repeats. I've seen a recent show (dunno where it's from, so I don't know if it has been released in the US or not) with plain weird animation, and grey-skinned kids whose faces are real human faces captured and distorted. If that's what technology means for cartoons, I prefer to stay with the simpel yet charming Sitting ducks, where the 3D aren't used (instead of ABUSED) to tell stories.
Yikes! I remember it now! The mouths in Clutch Cargo use to creep me out! Why would ANYONE buy that? o_O
It's sad about the Popeye thing, cuz I'd so buy a Popeye box set (especially if it included some WWII cartoons.)
And as for the Powerpuff Girl thing, I think it's great! I mean, I don't get how fans can draw and love PPG anime like fanart, but hate the idea of an actual anime. *blink blink* I think it's fun to see different animators take ahold of toons and give them their own twist.
I mean take John K and Yogi Bear... even if it did creep me out...
