Disney's Anne Frank by AndrewDickman Disney's Anne Frank by AndrewDickman
Via request from Lindsay the Nostalgia Chick.
This was made for her Top 5 Least Awful Disney Sequels video

[link]

And... I decided to post this under the heavy request of the fans... ^^;

I can't say I'm spot on seeing as I was trying to go for the usual poster style they go with, but I was doing this under a short amount of time anyway so... here's the result...
Also not a big fan of how I drew the "love interest" guy... but then again, most Disney guy designs were always a little "meh"

Being a huge Walt Disney fan... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry

That joke I felt was pretty stupid in that review. I know it's a bit iffy to fictionalize a real life event but let's be honest, real life can be a cold, cruel, wicked, ugly and dangerous world. Nice art though.

Where's the cat?  According to the diary and the play/movies based on it, there was a pet cat.

though if disney did this, i think i would not be happy, as im a huge fan of history and some people like anne cant be made disney, i still say this cover looks great, and i think disney would do this, as disney has done pocahontas, ruining her history, did mulan and then also theres the anatasia film.

If I did this, I would force Disney to be more adult for a change. I would not have the mouse, and I would make the violence and language more heavy. Alternately, I would have Anne's love interest be a spy who is working for Hitler (replacing the antagonist), but falls in love with Anne, revealing that they are both Jews, and he stays by her side when she dies at the camp of Typhoid fever. In the end, and for a better twist of alternate history, the lover shoots Hitler and everyone inside the Reich Chancellery, while Eva Braun still commits suicide after seeing Hitler's body. The film ends with the young man publishing Anne's diary to a press company where it becomes an international best seller.

This is Disney in a nutshell. I remember watching Pocahontas on VHS when I was 10, and remembering how unbelievably dull it was. What made the experience worse was the fact that I read in a history book just one week beforehand and reading an article about her. It literally stated that she was used as a sex slave by the colonists. It even mentioned the Disney film as an example under the book's definition of "whitewashing."

Don't ask me where the book is, it was from a 4th grade history book in Mississippi during the late 90's. I wish I had the book with me so I could xerox the page.

I wanna print this out one day and hang it in my living room. And when people ask me, "Why do you have an obscure Internet reference hanging above your couch?" I'll reply with another question. "Why not?"

You know, I think in a couple of hundred years or so, given the context of the other "historical" movies disney has made, this might work, but you would need a Don Bluth of their time to direct this.

Someone who could take material like this, and make it the right balance of being respectful towards it's audience, respectful towards it's history (thus it would have to be pretty dark, needing AT LEAST a PG rating) and able to be watched, and enjoyed.

Maybe, EMPHASIS ON MAYBE, someone like Brad Bird could pull this off, but I doubt it.

But if there isn't anyone like them availible, I beg you Disney, DO NOT try to make this.

Great picutre but....wasn't this for her "Anastasia" review?

Anyway, as far as tasteless jokes go, this is a nice one. The truly sick thing is that if this were a real movie I'd see it (and I'm Jewish, and my great-grandma had relatives killed by the Nazis). And I'd probably enjoy it, while feeling horrible about watching it. XDDDD

no it was the least awful sequels cause she was talking about how historically inaccurate and white-washed both Pocahontas movies are, and that she couldn't wait for 100 years from now when we get the Disney version of the Anne Frank story with talking mice and a made-up villain and all the usual Disney fare.

In that case, shouldn't the copyright date be 2111 or 2112?  You put 1989 on there.

Also, I actually kinda liked Pocahontas.  It's an American fairy tale, not a documentary, and should be treated as such.

My imaginary soundtrack:

Opening credits music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxtkg7…

Anne's song (the style, NOT the lyrics): www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5wFS6…

The cleaning song (playing from the radio): www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyeRt0…

Anne's mother's lullaby (reprised by Anne in a gas chamber, and then a heavenly choir at the end, along with a pop version during the end credits): www.youtube.com/watch?v=bToocw…

The villain song, all done in the style of a PG-rated German burlesque style (skip to 7:21): www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y1uYQ…

The cuddly friends song, sung by the rats voiced by Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Wayne Knight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5hXtG…

The love song by Anne and her boyfriend: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uneq8…

All I can say is that when the main character and his beloved were condemned to death by the Emperor Caligula, they appeared walking out of the chamber towards the camera, and the background of palace faded into a scenery of clouds, implying that they died and went o Heaven.

If Disney weren't to show a graphic death, they could imply that the characters reunited in the afterlife.
