Two on the left: Awesome, and I love the lil' guy's evil grin. Mid-right: It's OK, though a bit too Metroid-looking. Right: Neat robo-pirate idea, but for some reason the steering wheel and hook on her right arm look like preschool toys. I know! "My Little Destructive, Robotic Swashbuckler!" The kids'll WUV IT!
I sympathize. I used to like going to AX to see new anime and products from Japan that I couldn't get anywhere else. Now it's almost all American retailers and you can get everything on the internet anyway. If I go at all it's to people watch (I love cosplayers) and meet with old friends, so I'll usually just park myself in the con hotel bar with a sketchbook.
I'm a little worried about how I'm going to feel during Comic Con. I'm starting to become less and less tolerant of being within large crowds, haha. Well, hopefully next year I can get a booth to both AX and SDCC(though it seems unlikely for CC) then I can enjoy it from within a different perspective.
Don't ever go to a Japanese convention. You think the crowds are dense here...!
Comic-con has become way too big, but I have been going for 20 years and I've got too many strong ties there to skip it.
I like hanging out on the 'star destroyer bridge' with the big window that overlooks the convention floor. I love the convention atmosphere but I'm with you, I'd rather be somewhere out of the main crowds.
I understand... I've worked there the past few years but I honestly had not the time nor money to go and just deal with the crowds haha... And I really hope you get a booth next year so I may bother you for a picture. It does kinda get to you when your there for even a day... I mean even while working I just had to leave sometimes to go get something to drink and chill out before slapping a con goer >.>
