Mega Man - Peace Destroyer by AndrewDickman Mega Man - Peace Destroyer by AndrewDickman
My submission to the Mega Man Robot Master Battle Tribute Tumblr

I always envisioned a more epic battle between Mega Man and Gamma in Mega Man 3. While it was my very first game and I loved every bit of it, hearing the concept that the programmers wanted to fit in more into the game than they were allowed in the time they had, made me imagine the possibilities.

One of these days I'd like to helm a Mega Man game and bring that vision to life. I can dream...

Epic Scene! :D And Yeah! I would have loved to see a game vision like that brought to life! To bad Crapcom is too douche to allow it! .........................Sorry! (bows apologetically) I know shouldn't bring that into this but I'm still mad.

Megaman III

In  the year 2X0L, Dr. Right and his apprentice, Dr. Albert W. Wiley, now reformed to the forces of good, were building a giant peace machine. Gyroscopic and Main Machine Annihilator. GaMMA was built to destroy machines hellbent on destroying the world. Megaman and his new robotic dog, Rush, were having a good time together. Dr.s Right and Wiley built 9 Robot Masters and sent them out to find the minerals to power GaMMA.

a robot built to slither through tunnels
a robot made to light up dark areas using the Sparkshock
a robot created to replicate Ninjutsu
a robot forged to bend the magnetic forces to move metal
a robot made for mining and using the Hardknuckle
a robot built to shoot the Needlecannon and pierce softer materials
two robots created to together search the crystal mines under the ground and use the Geminilaser
a robot built to search the forests and spin around at 128 mph

6 months later, the robots had not returned. Dr. Wiley secretly sent out the Doc Robot K-176 machines to find them while Megaman stopped the Robot Masters.

The Doc Robot K-176 robots had not returned either, but were instead controlling four of the zones of which the Robot Masters had lived. The Robot Masters were dead, and Megaman had stopped them. Breakman, a mysterious robot, had later appeared upon a mound of rubble as the humans watched; he was there to kill Megaman. Breakman teleported away and Megaman had been told that Dr. Wiley ran off with GaMMA after receiving the last of the minerals. Megaman stopped Dr. Wiley after climbing through his Skull Castle. Megaman destroyed GaMMA and Dr. Wiley came out of the giant mecha. The Skull Castle immediately fell apart and crushed Dr. Wiley, along with Megaman. Megaman, being made of metal, was merely unconscious. A shadowy figure appeared and took Megaman back to his home. Twas Breakman that brought Megaman back, but Breakman was only a disguise. Protoman, the scarfed, shield-wielding robot, was the brother of Megaman.

Good gods, "the programmers wanted to fit in more than they were allowed", even with the four extra stages, built out of mashed up old ones?  Or perhaps they wanted to have all eight stages torn up and revisited... that would have been epic.

If you ask me, Megaman 3 was the most innovative Megaman game until the X series, and remains my absolute favorite.  Yes, Megaman 2 was a pioneer, but Megaman 3 took that home run and made it a grand slam.

Very nice work <3

Looking at this brings back memories of the day I beat Megaman 3. Gamma was quite a monstrous looking robot. And this artwork puts further emphasis on how frightening the robot would have been if it could move around in the actual game. You did  a great job with this piece here. This is solid.

I haven't heard anything about Mega Man 3's lost potential. Would you care to explain, or link to more? And may I assume it has something to do with the title of this piece?

In my opinion, I would love a remake of all Mega Man games in the style of Mega Man 8.
Jakearmitage01 Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2012
Agreed with you on Gamma should've been more of challenge than what was presented. Kind of a shame to since the last battle with Alien Wily in MM2 was a very fun fight.

There's always fan created games you can make Andrew, given that Capcom is promoting Megaman x Street Fighter for Capcom Unity.

I'd like the programmers to help back me up, lol
Jakearmitage01 Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2012
Well yeah but still on a creative and directing aspect I think you'd do good with. Ofcourse art to, seeing as I would wholly welcome your designs of enemies and Robot Masters (Like how I love :icongenzoman:'s work for Double Dragon Neon).

I mean not like Capcom's really going to do anything else with the Blue Bomber at this point. Heck they seem to want to outsource to different companies a lot now on their games.

For the record, I liked Battle Network, but I didn't really consider it a "Megaman" game, more like a spinoff series, which I guess it was anyway. I had never played anything past Battle Network 2 though.

What the world needs is a rekindling of the Legends/Dash games. I was so excited to see Megaman Volnutt on Tatsunoko vs Capcom and thought that it might be a hint at something to come, but... well you know.

They were building what was basically a perfect 3D rpg-esque Megaman franchise and then just left it to die after 2 games and a spinoff. (All which were amazing imho). I loved when other games coming out would mention things that would later occur in the Legends games (like some of X's speech in I want to say X5's endings? or some of the things going on in the Zero games). It just feels like a failed franchise that could've been so much more. These sort of things make me so sad sometimes, as a proponent for videogames being a storytelling and a true artistic medium.

Also this pic is amazing. Megaman 3, extended director's cut, should be a thing.

Keiji Inafune got booted from Capcom and ever since then Capcom shamed Inafune more by putting that fat bad box art Mega Man in Tekken x Street Fighter to spite him. Capcom's staff has lost a lot of my respect. They constantly put Mega Man on the backburner to shell out stupid Resident Evil sequels or bad fighting game spinoffs, and when they did release new Mega Man games they were all weird shit like this Star Force Pegasus crap or Battle Network. I liked Classic, X, Zero and Legends. All this other crap was just amazingly retarded.

Not to mention MM Universe and MM Legends 3 completely bit the dust before Inafune was kicked out. It fucking makes me sick man. Mega Man will most likely never be the same unless Inafune can get the rights to it himself and release it under his own new personal company. I hope he does.

-Inafune left on his own, he wasn't fired
-Inafune WANTED bad box art Mega Man. It was ment to be an amusing change, but the timing was really unfortunate.

How amazing it would have been to have a fight like this, instead of just slapping Gamma with a Top Spin?
Gamma for Mega Man 11. Let's do this.

Megaman 3 is my favorite game of the series, and although the fight itself was too easy, Gamma, in my opinion was the best-designed final boss in the classic megaman series(not that it has much to compete with). Instant favorite for me.
